Thank you for visiting this post! Be sure to also take a look at my other work on LinkedIn, Github, and my website.

I began my journey as a flatiron student August 24, 2020, and it has been a WILD ride. There isn’t anything in the world that could’ve prepared me for this bootcamp, but I’d like to share some tips that may help you get your feet wet during your first week.

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask questions

I know, I know! Asking questions can be scary. Especially when 30 strangers are staring at you like:

Push past the awkwardness and speak up! Chances are you’re not the only one in your class who has the same question. Plus, the instructors love it when you engage with them. It shows them you’re paying attention, and that you’re hungry to learn.

2. Network and chill

Networking is a powerful tool and can be the key your success! Effective networking is about building relationships with others; in this case, your classmates. You will be working with the worlds future tech leaders! It is important to establish and build these relationships with your peers. Most of the amazing technologies we have today started with collaboration’s between a few peers, and they changed the world.

3. Don’t be a lone wolf.

Coding is intricate work, and most of the time you will need the help of your fellow classmates. It’s more beneficial for you to work through your labs with a group of other students. Study groups can help you develop as a student, person, and professional. It will encourage members to think creatively and build strong communication skills which also help in refining understanding of the material. You’ll work more efficiently, and it will allow you the chance to get to know your peers better. The relationships you form within this course will change your coding game!

I hope this you in some way! Best of luck to you!
